The Attorney General (AG) has instructed the Acting Police Inspector General to expedite investigations and submit a report on five cases.
These cases include the murders of journalist Lasantha Wickrematunge, ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen, the abduction and enforced disappearances of 11 youths in Colombo, and the murder of 17 workers of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) in Mutur.
Acting Police Chief C.D. Wickremaratne, Senior DIG and the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department, were among those who were instructed by AG Dappula de Livera to submit the report, Senior State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said.
