The Agriculture Ministry has decided to enhance the storage facilities to store more stocks of paddy from next year.
The storage facilities existing at present are used to store upto 10 percent of the total harvest obtained during the Yala and Maha harvesting seasons.
The ministry noted that around two million metric tonnes of paddy is harvested annually.
Accordingly, the storage facilities would be increased to store 25 percent of the total harvest, the ministry said.
