Cabinet has decided to henceforth destroy all stocks of 'Beedi Leaves' that are confiscated by Sri Lanka Customs.
Up until now, beedi leaves imported to Sri Lanka without obtaining proper approval have been confiscated by Customs and were sold at auction following customs procedure. However, Cabinet has now decided to destroy such stocks taking into consideration the adverse impact beedi leaves have on those who consume them.
