The FR petition which was filed by Ven. Dambara Amila thero against the removal of Ranil Wickremesinghe as Prime Minister, was granted leave to proceed from January 07, 2019.
The petitioner requested the Supreme Court to declare the gazette which stated the appointment of Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister, as null and void.
UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and 53 members of the cabinet have been named as respondents in the petition.
