Notorious drug racketeer 'Andarewatte Chamara' was arrested in Grandpass yesterday (Jan 10) over the possession of live hand grenades and five grams of heroin.
The arrest was carried out by STF personnel who had later discovered that the suspect was engaged in the drug trade with drug racketeer 'Dematagoda Chaminda' who is currently serving a prison sentence.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect had close ties with underworld criminals 'Angoda Lokka' and 'Makandure Madush'
It is reported that 'Andarewatte Chamara', at the time of the arrest, was evading custody over several charges that included threatening people by using weapons and obtaining ransom.
