Another no-confidence motion would be put forward in Parliament against Minister Rishad Batihudeen owing to his illegal financial dealings with state-owned retailer Sathosa, opposition parliamentarian S.B. Dissanayake said.
Addressing a press briefing yesterday (Aug 1), Mr. Dissanayake alleged that the Minister has been drawing sums from Sathosa on a monthly basis by claiming it would be paid to the security officers at the retail outlet.
"The police and the parliamentary select committee have not yet proved that Rishad is innocent," Dissanayake noted while explaining that it is not difficult to prove the charges against the minister.
The first no-confidence motion against the ministerial portfolio of Rishad Bathiudeen had been removed from the parliament's order book after he had resigned before the motion was taken up for a vote.
Mr. Bathiudeen re-assumed office this week.
