President Maithripala Sirisena today (Mar 28) announced that a special anti-narcotic programme ‘Bakmaha Diwuruma’, would be launched on April 03 throughout the island.
Speaking during an event at the Rumassala Bonavista College, Mr. Sirisena urged the public to join hands and eliminate the narcotic menace from the country.
He drew parallels to the ill-effects of the narcotic menace to that of the destruction caused by terrorists and imperialists in a country.
"The anti-narcotic programme will be further strengthened after April 03. The police and the Navy will conduct raids in the country," the President said during his address.
