Anti-SAITM strike: Only hospitals affected in Dambulla

While the island-wide strike today affected services at hospitals in Dambulla, many other services functioned as normal, according to officials. 

Two doctors were seen working at the Out Patient Department (OPD) of the Dambulla Hospital. Clinics however, were completely stopped. The same situation existed at many provincial hospitals. 

The strike had some effect at the Galewela Maha Vidyalaya. However, activities at all other schools in the region continued as normal. Electricity to the Dambulla town was down for a while, but Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) workers soon arrived at the location to conduct repairs. 

Employees of the Sri Lanka Transport Board's (SLTB) Dambulla bus depot were also seen at work.
