The Colombo Chief Magistrate today ordered the Colombo Crimes Division to seek the Attorney General (AG)'s advice on the legal action to be taken against Minister Arjuna Ranatunga and to report to court.
This was with regard the incident which took place at the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Headquarters last October where it is alleged that an individual was assaulted and injured by Mr Ranatunga.
However, the Colombo Crimes Division informed the Courts that while conducting investigations and examining the CCTV footage of the incident, the footage did not reveal that the complainant had been assaulted by Minister Ranatunga.
Police informed the Chief Magistrate that the advice of the AG is being sought with regard to the legal action to be taken against Mr Ranatunga.
The case will be taken up agian on March 1
