Sri Lanka Army has launched a special inquiry to identify an individual believed to be a military personnel who had failed to act against an unruly mob in Thunmodara.
Issuing a press release, the Army Headquarters said that an inquiry has been launched after videos and photos showed an onlooking individual dressed in a typical Army uniform standing-by while a mob was committing violent acts in the area.
Further, Army said that it also seeks the assistance of the public to trace the suspect. "If the inquiry confirms that the person in question happens to be an Army member, the Army will take all necessary disciplinary actions against the said member," Army emphasised.
Accordingly, the general public has been requested to inform any known whereabouts of the individual or any future incidents by calling the Special Investigations Unit of the Military Police Corps on 011 - 2 514 280.
