More than 40,000 people hit by power cuts after trees fall on electric cables

Around 42,000 people have been affected after trees had fallen on top of electric cables causing electricity disruptions.

Residents of Homagama, Kottawa, Horana, Avissawella, Padukka, and Hanwella are facing a power outage since 6 pm yesterday, the Power and Energy Ministry said.

Damages in high tension electric cables have been restored, the Ministry said adding that measures are being taken to repair the damages in low voltage cables.
