The arrest of a suspect with 11.1 grams of heroin has revealed details of a heroin smuggling operation allegedly run by an inmate at the Negombo prison.
Police Media Unit stated that the suspect was arrested by Negombo Police Crime Investigation Unit during a raid in the Dalupotha area last evening with the stock of heroin and a sum of Rs 60,150 suspected to have been earned through drug dealing.
Further interrogation revealed that the suspect had bought his stock of heroin through an inmate currently detained at the Negombo prison, police added.
The 34-year-old suspect is due to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate's Court today (19).
