The arrival and departure lobbies of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) have been re-opened for visitors since 12 pm today, an airport official told Times Online.
Visitors were barred from entering the airport ever since the deadly Easter Sunday bombings, as a part of heightened security measures at such venues.
However, from today onwards, two visitors could accompany a passenger each, the BIA official said. He added that these visitors could only remain for three hours inside the airport.
Visitors are advised to refrain from bringing bags or parcels into the lobbies due to the security arrangements in place, the BIA said.
Meanwhile, the normal exit point of the airport has also been re-opened to the public.
