Baddegama Pradeshiya Sabha member Ruwan Pradeep Kumara was ordered to be remanded until April 05 by Baddegama Magistrate Dammika Hemapala today (Mar 22).
Charges have been levelled against Mr. Kumara for threatening a person over a telephone call and subsequently assaulting the individual.
The pradeshiya sabha member was arrested and produced before courts after a case was filed by a resident of Panwila identified as N.T. Sanee Samantha.
The victim of the assault is currently recieving treatment at the Karapitya Teaching Hospital.
Police told court that the accused had threatened the victim via a telephone call yesterday (Mar 21) and had later proceeded to assault the victim physically .
