The electing of a new President and Secretary for the year 2019/2020 of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) will take place tomorrow (Feb 20).
Accordingly, voting will be held at 83 voting centers around the island including Colombo, a Bar Association spokesman said. Voting will take place from 8.00am till 5.00pm.
This year's election will see President's Counsel Kalinga Indatissa and former BASL Secretary, attorney Mahinda Lokuge contest for the post of President. Attorneys Kaushalya Nanayakkara and Saman Welianga are contesting for the position of secretary.
President's Counsel Dappula de Livera will function as the chief selector to monitor voting taking place in Colombo. The remaining 82 polling centers out of Colombo will be monitored by the district judges of the respective districts, the Bar Association said in a statement.
