Former Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa was brought to the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court this morning. Rajapaksa was arrested by police Financial Crimes Investigations Division on April 22 under offences against the Public Property Act. He was produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate on the same night along with former Secretary to the Economic development Ministry Dr. Nihal Jayatillake and Director General of Divi Naguma Project R.A.A.K. Ranawaka. They were remanded until May 5 by the Kaduwela Magistrate on April 22. Rajapaksa was admitted to the Colombo National Hospital on April 23.
