Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa has resigned from Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) National Organiser post accepting full responsibility for the defeat of Ex President Mahinda Rajapaksa in the presidential election, a spokesperson said. He has sent his resignation letter to the General Secretary of SLFP Anura Priyadarshana Yapa from United States. He said he will continue to remain as a Member of Parliament (MP) in the United Peoples' Freedom Alliance (UPFA). He thanked his party supporters and officials who conducted the polls.
