Batticaloa High Court granted approval today for former Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan to attend Parliament sessions on Thursday.
Mr Chandrakanthan who is currently in remand prison over the assasination of former TNA MP Joseph Pararajasingham was further remanded until October 19 by Batticaloa magistrate N. Srinidhi yesterday.
Former Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Puligal (TMVP) national coordinator and Eastern provincial councilor Edwin Silwa Krishnanantharaja, K. Kanaganayagam and Army intelligence officer M. Kaleel also were further remanded along with Pillayan till February 6. Pillayan was arrested in 2015 when he arrived at the CID to give a statement in connection with the assassination of the late Tamil politician, Joseph Pararajasingham who was shot dead on Christmas Eve in 2005.
