The Beruwala fisheries harbour has been closed until further notice after 10 fishermen involved in transporting fish to the Peliyagoda fish market have been tested positive for COVID-19, the Manager of the fisheries harbour Edward Dayamal said.
He said over 100 fishermen have undergone PCR tests. About 300 persons from Peliyagoda fish market and hundreds of close contacts were found positive for coronavirus yesterday (22).
Meanwhile, the fish stall at the Homagama market coming under the Homagama Pradeshiya Sabha has been closed after the owner was found infected with the virus.
Kalutara district health authorities have requested fishermen and vendors who have visited the Peliyagoda fish market during last week, to provide their details to the area health officer.
