A SriLankan Airlines flight which left for Dubai last night was forced to return to the Banadaranaike International Airport (BIA) after an engine malfunctioned following a bird strike.
The airplane had managed to remain airborn for two hours using one engine.
It is reported that 268 passengers and 12 cabin crew were on board the flight UL-225 which had left the BIA at around 6:40 am yesterday (Feb 26).
The pilot having identified the technical malfunctioning had taken immediate steps to return to the airport at around 8:11 pm. The passengers left for Dubai on another carrier at around 11:15 pm on the same day.
The plane is currently undergoing repairs.
