Bodies belonging to the brother's of Zaharan Cassim - the Easter Sunday attacks mastermind, will be exhumed today (Jun 7) from the Ampara general cemetry for a DNA test, a senior police official said.
The official noted that four of the initial samples which were sent to the Government Analyst for a DNA test could not be used. Accordingly, the bodies will be exhumed today to send a new batch of samples for another test.
Zaharan's brothers were among 15 people who perished after committing suicide at a residence in Sainthamaruthu on April 26.
The exhumation is expected to take place in the presence of the Kalmunai Chief Magistrate and former Ampara Judicial Medical Officer Dr. Ruchira Nadeera.
