The body of a woman has been found inside a well in Veyangoda last evening, police said.
Police have identified the deceased as 69-year old Yasmin Gunawardena who is a resident of Kurunduwatta.
Investigations have revealed that the woman had been living alone at her residence. The cause of the death has not been determined yet.
Police have cordoned off the area in which the body had been found as a crime scene. The remains have not been removed from the location for further investigations.
