A Police Sergeant attached to the Valachchanai Police station was found dead in Vavunathivu in Batticaloa this morning (6), police stated.
The body of the police officer has injuries consistent with an assault, police added.
The deceased has been identified as Thambipillai Sivarasa (55), a resident of Batticaloa. Investigations are ongoing.
