The brother-in-law of Mohamed Zahran, the mastermind behind the Easter Sunday attacks, has been arrested last night in Kekunugolla, Katupotha, police said.
According to the police, M. Abdul Cader Azeem, 28, the suspect, has been identified as the elder brother of Zahran’s wife.
Investigations have shown that his aunt had been married to Naufer Moulavi, who had been arrested in connection with an extremist group involved in the bombings on April 21.
He is also believed to have received training with Zahran at a training camp in Nuwara Eliya
The arrest had been carried out by officers attached to the Colombo Crimes Division at around 10:30 pm.
