Bus carrying pre-school children crashes; 20 injured

Twenty people, including six children were injured and admitted to the Chilaw Hospital after an accident near the Mundalama Vidyalaya at about 12.45am today (29). 

Police said the incident occurred on the Puttalam-Mundalama Main Road. Police said the bus had been carrying a group of pre-school children and their teachers from a pre-school in Kalaoya, Rajanganaya. The group had been returning from an educational trip when the bus they were traveling in crashed into a lorry parked on the side of the road. 

Six children and 14 adults who were in the bus sustained injuries and were admitted to hospital. Police said the condition of two of the children and two adults were serious. 

Mundalama Police are investigating.
