The ministerial cabinet has approved a proposal to grant USD 50,000 for the re-construction of a Cuban village which was hit by a cyclone recently.
A proposal to this effect was put forward before cabinet by Foreign Affairs Minister Thilak Marapana during yesterday's meeting chaired by the President.
In his proposal, the Minister stated that the funds would be used to reconstruct a village located near Regla in the city of Havana in Cuba.
The village had been affected as a result of a cyclone which claimed the lives of several persons and left hundreds injured in January this year.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
