Cabinet approves 6.56% bus fare hike

Cabinet has approved a bus fare hike of 6.56 per cent effective from tomorrow (16). 

However, the current minimum fare of Rs.10 will not change. 

The decision to hike bus fares was taken in light of the recent hike in fuel prices. 

Private bus unions had been seeking a fare hike between 10 and 20 per cent.
