Cabinet granted approval today (Dec 01) to submit the Annual Budget for 2019 before Parliament on March 05.
Accordingly, the Appropriation Bill comprising the government's stipulated expenditure for the present year will be submitted before cabinet next Monday.
During today's cabinet meeting, Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera had proposed to submit the Bill by January 08 (Tuesday).
However, President Maithripala Sirisena had called for the Appropriation Bill to be presented on Monday since he would be completing his fourth anniversary as President on Tuesday.
