Cabinet approval has been granted to implement a pilot project of distributing tabs to school students and teachers in near future.
Approval was granted after a cabinet paper was put forward by Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam proposing the distribution of free tabs among G.C.E. Advanced Level students and teachers.
President Maithripala Sirisena speaking at yesterday's cabinet meeting had stressed the need for a pilot project before implementing the said project on a full-scale.
A special committee was appointed to investigate into the project when a similar cabinet proposal was put forward last year.
