Cabinet approval was granted yesterday to revise the estimated cost and call for tenders in order to conduct a forensic audit on institutions supervised by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).
Previously, cabinet had approved a proposal to obtain the services of a internationally reputed agency in order to conduct the forensic audit.
However, the cabinet procurement committee had proposed to revise the estimated cost since there had been had been huge discrepancies in the value of the bids that were submitted to carry out the audit.
A cabinet paper had been re-submitted by Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera during the recently concluded cabinet meeting in this regard.
