A joint cabinet paper calling for a ban on tution classes during poya days and Sundays will be submitted before Cabinet, Buddhasasana Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera said.
He said the cabinet paper would be drafted after having consulted the clergy of the Hindu and Islam faiths.
The cabinet paper would propose a ban on tution classes upto 2 pm on Sundays and a total ban on Poya days, the Minister explained.
Minister Perera also said the cabinet paper would propose a mechanism to award 10 marks from the Sunday School examination to the Grade Five scholarship and G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination.
He noted that he had held talks with the Education Minister in this regard.
