The cabinet yesterday decided to revert a gazette notification issued to introduce an age- limit of those who are above 35 years of age for three wheel drivers.
Earlier the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation had issued the gazette notification permitting only those above 35 years of age to be eligible to apply for a driving license for three-wheelers inview of increasing road accidents involving three wheelers.
President Maithripala Sirisena reportedly opposed the gazette notification along with Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera who took a firm stand that citizens should be allowed to engage in a job of their choice.
