The new set of cabinet ministers may not be sworn in today (Dec 18) as planned due to a delay in finalising of the list, according to informed sources.
Accordingly, the UNF had finalised its list of cabinet ministers yesterday which reportedly has exceeded thirty ministers.
However, in a bid to keep in line with the constitution, the list is expected to be revised and limited to thirty following which it would be submitted to President Maithripala Sirisena today.
Meanwhile, President Sirisena had expressed his objection in handing over a cabinet portfolio to former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake due to his alleged involvement in the Central Bond Scam.
