The caretaker cabinet will conduct its first meeting this Wednesday, Minister Dullas Alahapperuma told Times Online.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa last week appointed a 15-member interim cabinet with Mahinda Rajapaksa as prime minister , to function until the general election is held.
State ministers will be sworn in on Wednesday, Minister Alahapperuma added.
Meanwhile, senior administrative officer Sirisena Amarasekara assumed duties as Cabinet Secretary at the auspicious time of 10:40 am today.
Mr Amarasekara had previously served as the secretary to late Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne and also Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa - during the constitutional crisis last year.
