The case filed against Chief-of-Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne for harbouring a suspect involved in the youth abduction case has been fixed for July 17 for further hearing by the Colombo Fort Magistrates Court.
Admiral Wijegunaratne, a former Navy Commander has been accused of abetting Former Lieutenant Commander Chandana Prasad Hettiarachchi alias 'Navy Sampath' to evade arrest despite being issued an arrest warrant in the case.
The case was taken up before Colombo Fort Magistrate Ranga Dissanayake today (Apr 02).
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) during today's hearing had told court that further investigations would be carried out into the case by utilising records of telephone conversations concerning the accused.
Accordingly, the Magistrate had informed the CID to present a report on its investigations during the next hearing before court.
