The case filed against Parliamentarian Prasanna Ranatunga and his wife will be taken up for hearing on August 1, the Colombo High Court announced today (Jun 6).
Three witnesses in the case were ordered to appear before court during the next hearing by the High Court.
MP Ranatunga and his wife are accused of selling a land in Meethotamulla, Kolonnawa for Rs 64 million to a businessman. The sale is said to have taken place after forcing out some illegal occupants of the land.
Meanwhile, High Court judge Manjula Thilakaratne rejected a request by the prosecution to seek for a new report of telephone records in the case.
The prosecution sought a new report by pointing out that the head of the IT Division at the Colombo University under whom the report was compiled had passed away.
According to the Attorney General, the accused in the case had committed the offence between April 10, 2015 and June 2, 2015.
