The case involving former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and seven others over the misuse of state funds will be heard on a daily basis before the High Court from January 22 next year.
The former defense secretary has been accused of misuing funds of the state coffers to the tune of Rs 33.9 million in order to construct the D.A. Rajapaksa memorial museum.
The order was issued when the case was taken up before the three-member judge today (Dec 04).
Meanwhile, the lawyer representing the defence said that preliminary objections would be filed on behalf of his clients.
The Attorney General informed that all the documents in the clause relating to the charges have been handed over to the defence, and that arrangements will be made to hand any further documents requested by the defence in the future.
Accordingly, the case will be heard on January 3 to investigate whether the documents have been received by the respondents.
