The Acting Police Chief has instructed the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) to probe the assault of a van driver by a member of a VIP convoy which took place yesterday (Jul 18).
These instructions had been issued after parliamentarian Ashu Marasinghe had written to Acting IGP C.D. Wickramaratne seeking to conduct an investigation over the matter.
Marasinghe, in his letter had identified the number plates of the vehicles, and had urged action to be taken against the suspects irrespective of their position.
