Former Minister Tissa Attanayake has said the current state that has befallen the UNP was exactly what he predicted four years ago.
He further said that many individuals had criticised and insulted him when he made these remarks.
"The UNP, under Ranil Wickremesinghe has been defeated at many general elections. The current state of the party is similart to what I predicted four years ago. I will contest at the next General Elections. But I cannot comment on the party through which I would contest from" Mr. Attanayake told the media after calling on the Chief Prelate of the Mahanayake sect.
Mr. Attanayke further said that a change in the leadership of the UNP is vital while adding it would be impossible to at least imagine a victory at the polls under the current leadership.
