Charges levied for flights entering Sri Lankan airspace would be increased from next month, Civil Aviation Minister Arjuna Ranatunga said.
Minister Ranatunga explained that these charges would differ based on a flight’s weight and size. Passenger and cargo flights will have separate rates, he said.
While pointing out that around 300 flights enter Sri Lanka’s air space, the Minister added that these charges have not been revised for several years.
Accordingly, he said that the rates would be almost similar to the charges levied in India, and expected to generate an income for the Ministry.
