The Chief Financial Officer of Sri Lanka Cricket Wimal Dissanayake has been arrested by the CID for suspected financial misappropriation linked with awarding telecast rights to Sony TV.
It is alleged that Mr Dissanayake requested Sony Television Corporation to transfer US$187,084 to his personal bank account in USA.
Police Spokesperson SP Ruwan Gunasekara said he was arrested at his residence. Further he said he was arrested after the SLC's chief executive officer lodged a complaint with the police over financial fraud.
The complainant claimed that SLC's television rights were with Sony since 2013. At the last South African tour, this main suspect asked Sony to deposit 15 per cent of the television rights fees to a private account in America.
