The Colombo Chief Magistrate has asked the Attorney General (AG) to inform court before June 19, on when indictments would be filed against the Central Bank treasury bond scam suspects.
This week, the Chief Justice permitted the AG to file charges at the Special High Court against 10 individuals who are alleged to have been involved in the bond scam.
At present, the case is being heard before the Colombo Chief Magistrate's court. Recently, court had lifted the travel ban imposed on Geoffrey Aloysius who has been named as one of the suspects in the case.
Senior State Counsel Lakmini Giriyagama, appearing for the prosecution, had however told court that the she would raise objections against this decision.
Accordingly, Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne had asked the AG to inform court as to when the indictments would take place against the suspects at the Special High Court.
