Nuwan Sanjeewa Mendis, a member of the Chilaw Pradeshiya Sabha has died following a motor accident last night (March 14).

Police said that the accident had occured last night along the Madampe-Kuliyapitiya road in close proximity to the Suduwella area.

It is reported that the motorcycle which was driven by the victim had faced a head-on collission with a tipper-truck as he tried to take a turn into a bylane from the main road.

The driver of the tipper truck has been taken into custody by the Madampe Police.

Further investigations into the accident continue.
