Children of Tamil political prisoners who have been languishing in remand for years today staged a protest in Jaffna urging their speedy release. As the World Children day falls today, the children of political prisoners questioned when they are going to be united with their loved ones. They have handed over a memorandum to the Northern Provincial Chief Minister C. V. Wigneshwaran. “Today the political prisoners issue has been politicized by this government. After the Geneva proceedings, this government has to do something over this issue,” Chief Minister said. The government recently said more than 200 political prisoners are still in remand including those charged and some of them are without any charges.
