The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has commenced an investigation regarding the news report carried by an Australian website claiming that an employee of his office, when he served as the Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Services demanded 'political donation' to approve a project, Cabinet spokesman Minister Rajitha Senarathne said today.
Earlier President Sirisena instructed the Attorney General (AG) department to carry out a comprehensive investigation in to the matter. " He also emphasized that during his political career, he had never indulged in any form of corruption or malpractice or encouraged or involved in any such activity,"

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
