CID launches probe into four crimes manipulated by Makandure Madush from Dubai

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched a probe into four serious crimes which had been manipulated by druglord 'Makandure Madush' from Dubai, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.

The four crimes are as follows :

• 27 / 02 / 2017 - Killing of five persons including notorious organised criminal 'Samayan', two prisons officers, and two others in a prisons bus in Kalutara while also injuring four others in the incident.
• 05 / 09 / 2017 - Killing of two police officers at the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB), and injuring four others in the shooting.
• 06 / 03 / 2018 - Kidnapping and murder of 'Kelanimulle Kosmalli' in Agunukolapelassa.
• 08 / 11 / 2018 - Stealing a diamond from a residence in Pannipitiya

The phone call records of Makandure Madush, his associates involved in these crimes, and the victims are currently under examination, the Police Spokesman told a news conference this afternoon.

He added that two pistols and a T-56 weapon which are believed to have been used in these killings had been recovered upon questioning of Madush who is under CID custody following his deportation from Dubai.

These weapons had been recovered from the Weliweriya and Meegamuwa areas, Mr. Gunasekara said adding that they would be sent to the Government Analyst for an examination.
