Statements have been recorded by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) from 421 women who had lodged complaints against Kurunegala Hospital doctor Mohamed Safi.
These statements were recorded after the Police called on the public to submit complaints, if available, against the doctor who is alleged to have sterilized women.
The CID has also recorded statements from 32 doctors including four VOG's (Obstetricians and Gynecologists), in addition to 18 hospital employees, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said yesterday (Jun 6).
He noted that 69 nursing officers have also been questioned by the CID. At present, the total number of complaints against the doctor stands at 681.
