A sergeant attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) who was arrested for soliciting a bribe of Rs 80,000 from a businessman, has been ordered to be remanded till March 22, by the Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today (March 8).
The Bribery Commission informed court that the suspect had taken a Rs. 513,500 bribe from a businessman in order to prevent legal action being taken on the latter regarding a fraudulent cheque.
The Bribery Commission informed the court that further investigations would be conducted into the incident.
