The Criminal Investigation Department has taken over the investigation into the recent shooting incident at Piliyandala in which a policeman and a girl were killed, Law and Order and Southern Development Minister Sagala Ratnayake told Parliament today.
He said once he receives the report of the CID, he would present it to Parliament. The Minister said the Marihana Special Crime Operations Division was also looking into the incident.
The Minister said this in response to a special statement made in parliament by Chief Opposition Whip JVP MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake relating to the incident.
The JVP Lawmaker told the House that there were many questions in the mind of the public with regards to the shooting incident which occurred on May 09 night at Piliyandala where a group of policemen attached to the Police Narcotics Bureau was shot at when they were travelling in a car.
