The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has launched a probe into claims made by Ven Medagoda Abayathissa Thero who alleged that people had been killed under Sharia Law.
These investigations had been launched upon the instructions of Acting Police Chief C.D. Wickremeratne, Police said.
Ven Medagoda Abayathissa Thero, while addressing a public rally on July 4, had alleged that 20 people had been killed in the country under Sharia Law.
